BPC157 is a peptide that is naturally found in human gastric acid secretions, it works by enhancing your body’s natural healing processes and thereby speeding up the rate of recovery from injury. This peptide has been studied for decades and has demonstrated multiple and diverse benefits including:

  • Stimulates EGR-1 (Early growth factor protein) / Nerve growth factor-induced protein.
  • Stimulates Angiogenesis via upregulation and increased activity of VEGFR2 (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2) to allow the body to build blood vessels to deliver oxygen, nutrients and remove metabolic waste.
  • Enhances Growth Hormone receptors, especially on ligaments and tendons.

Details and History:

ВРС-157 іѕ a fascinating соmроund that іѕ іnсrеаѕіnglу being іnvеѕtіgаtеd and used for іtѕ еffесtѕ in healing and repairing tіѕѕuеs, аѕ wеll аѕ іn а wіdе vаrіеtу оf health conditions including nеurоlоgісаl, іnflаmmаtоrу аnd аutоіmmunе dіѕеаѕеѕ.

It was first studied in rat models to heal gastric ulcers, it was found to be orally bioavailable because it is naturally found in the stomach, this means unlike other peptides or hormones such as insulin or testosterone that need to be injected, BPC can be taken orally without the stomach acid denaturing or degrading the functional structure of the peptide.

Because this peptide is found in the human gastrointestinal tract, it is considered a natural compound, therefore, is not patentable, therefore not financially viable for drug companies to invest in, this is likely why this peptide has not become a staple in medical practice and is still in the fringe of biohacking, functional and longevity medicine.

The main indications for BPC-157 are accelerating ligament and tendon injury recovery and repairing leaky-gut / reducing intestinal permeability. BPC is so beneficial for the gastrointestinal tract that it is currently in phase III and IV human trials for the autoimmune inflammatory bowel diseases Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s disease.

Intestinal permeability, or “leaky gut,” is an extremely common issue that allows bacterial toxins such as LPS and other harmful compounds in our guts to directly enter our bloodstream causing inflammation and putting pressure on our immune system and detoxification organs. There are plenty of different supplements and protocols aimed at healing leaky gut, but BPC-157 is has been toted by many as the best compound at addressing this issue.

BPC-157’s main mechanism of action is improving angiogenesis – the process by which new blood vessels are created. BPC improves blood flow in wounded and damaged areas of your body through the process of enhanced angiogenesis. It also improves healing by upregulating growth hormone receptors. Additionally, it increases the activity and upregulation of critical healing factors such as EGR-1, NGF, and VEGF.

Technical Information:

Body Protective Compound: BPC-157 is a peptide chain consisting of 15 amino acids (Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala- Gly-Leu-Val) with a molecular formula of 62 carbons, 98 hydrogens, 60 nitrogen and 22 oxygen atoms.

Oral BPC comes in both acetate and arginine salt; Regenerate uses the highly bioavailable arginine salt version.
The less efficacious acetate salt version commonly found in inferior quality products and from foreign suppliers. The arginine salt version is characterized by increased resistance to gastric juice and high temperatures. All this means that the BPC can pass through the stomach unchanged where it can then be absorbed in the intestines, as such BPC-Arginine is a competitive alternative to injectable preparations.

Researchers have conducted numerous rodent studies on BPC-157 that show it a multitude of protective effects on the organism.
BPC-157 has been shown to benefit ulcers in the stomach, intestinal damage such as fistulas and inflammatory disorders, bone and joint healing and growth rates, and organ damage.

BPC-157 is also capable of healing detached or disjoined Achilles tendon. (Staresinic et al. 2003).
In particular, one study found BPC-157 to be effective in healing quadriceps muscles that have been torn and crushed. Butler et al. (2007). Muscle tears have also been observed to recover much faster with BPC-157 administration, even when the healing process is impaired by the systemic use of corticosteroids. (Gwyer et al. 2019) (Pevec et al. 2010).

Ligaments: BPC-157 can lead to superior healing of damaged ligaments, along with tendon-to-bone healing. A rat study conducted in 2010 found that BPC-157 led to the healing of acute ligament injuries within rats.

It also has some influences on the brain and neurochemistry (dopaminergic and serotonergic actions) as well as helping reduce neurological inflammation.
Researchers have observed marked protective effects when BPC-157 is administered to rats alongside a research toxin or damaging surgical procedure.

Similarly to how BPC can assist in repairing the gut barrier, it may also elicit the same beneficial effect on the blood brain barrier (BBB).
Reducing BBB hyper-permeability is key to reducing neurological inflammation and keeping out toxins such as circulating heavy metals, hormones and other chemicals that should not entry to the brain.

BPC-157 has multiple mechanisms of action, but current research suggests BPC-157 influences several growth factors usually involved in angiogenesis (the production of blood vessels) and other factors involved in regeneration following damage.

BPC will heal what the body wants to heal most, not always what we want it to heal, so taking BPC with the expectation for it to heal a specific injury may not actually work. If there is a lot of gastrointestinal damage, the body will repair first according to its own needs and priority.
BPC is considered a smart peptide in that it goes where it is needed; damaged areas in the body and sites of inflammation characterised by

BPC in Sports:
As of the date of this blog article publication, BPC 157 is presently NOT listed as an illegal compound by WADA or ASADA.

Oral: 250-1000 mcg/day for 30days; continue if improvements noticed. Dose-dependent on purpose. High doses for enhanced injury recovery may be warranted.

Split doses: 250mcg morning, 250mcg night is a good dosing protocol and to keep in circulation.

Side effects:
BPC is an effective formula designed to protect and heal your body, without harmful side effects.

Oral: None known; however more research is needed.

All studies have shown it has fewer side effects than placebo and there have been no adverse or negative reactions reported in the few trials conducted on human beings. However, there is a need for further peer-reviewed trials.

Injectable: can result in pain and redness around the injection site as well as potential histamine reactions after prolonged use.

>125g (80kg human). Eq: 250,000 x the supplemental dose; Huge therapeutic window.

Cancer; Angiogenesis and VEGF are drivers of cancer growth.

As BPC is not metabolised by the liver (broken down is circulation by hydrolase enzymes) thus, there are no established drug-interactions.
